for your session

Your session should be held where your family is most happy and at ease.  I am happy to travel to your home and capture a sleepy Saturday morning of pancakes and cartoons and snuggles.  I am also happy to travel to your favorite beach for a sunset picnic, or your favorite amusement park, or your favorite hiking trail.  My goal for your session is to document memories that you'll always remember, with or without photographic evidence.

I don't pose people, I don't offer outfit guides.  I don't wrap tiny babies in fabric and pose them in bowls.  I don't have closets full of expensive gowns.  I don't see anything wrong with all of those things; but it's not my personal style, it's not part of my artistic vision.  I've spent so much of my career trying to copy the latest trends and keep up, only to burn out and fall back to what I've always done.  Quietly observe from the side, or the back, or the front. And my favorite images have always been the ones I've taken when clients have least expected it.  To me, documentary photography is unposed, unplanned, unscripted.  It's simply documenting what I see in front of me.  The relationships and connections.  The interesting traits that make all of your family members unique and lovely humans.  I am not here to help you make memories; I am here to witness and hold space for the memories you and your family are kind enough to share with me.
